Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in developing Islamic Education Management Information Systems (IEMIS) in the era of digital transformation. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained from books, national and international journal articles, and official documents related to AI, management information systems, digital transformation, and Islamic education. Data were analyzed using content analysis through the stages of identification, classification, interpretation, and literature synthesis. The findings indicate that AI plays a strategic role in transforming IEMIS from systems primarily oriented toward data storage and reporting into intelligent systems that support administrative automation, data analysis, data-driven decision-making, and improved academic services. AI integration also provides opportunities to enhance the efficiency and quality of educational governance. However, its implementation faces challenges related to human resource readiness, infrastructure, data security, algorithmic bias, and ethical considerations. In Islamic education, AI adoption should be guided by the principles of trustworthiness, justice, responsibility, and public benefit.
